Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead Game Studios has announced that the M-103 Supply Fast Recon Vehicle — the armoured off-road truck the gaming community has taken to calling the “car” — will become permanently available to all players this October. The vehicle was previously a limited stratagem reward for Helldivers who took part in June’s Census Thunder campaign, but the successful operation has paved the way for every player to unlock it before the year is out.
Meet the M-103 Supply FRV
The Supply FRV is the third variant of Helldivers 2’s light-armoured recon vehicle, a line that first entered the gaming landscape during the Omens of Tyranny update in December 2024. Where the standard FRV rolls with a mounted machinegun and the M-102 version can carry up to five squad members, the M-103 is the most tactically versatile model yet.
Key point: The M-103 Supply FRV is equipped with an automated turret and a rear-mounted supply rack capable of eight full resupplies of Helldiver ammo and equipment — effectively a mobile base of operations on the frontline.
That supply rack is what sets the M-103 apart from its siblings. Rather than a straightforward firepower upgrade, the vehicle functions as a rolling support platform for the whole squad. In a co-op shooter built around teamwork and sustained combat pressure, having eight on-the-spot resupplies without burning a stratagem slot is a meaningful tactical advantage — especially in longer, more demanding operations where ammo management becomes critical.
How June’s Census Thunder Campaign Made It Happen
The Supply FRV wasn’t simply handed to the player community — it was earned. In June, Arrowhead ran the Census Thunder campaign, a large-scale galactic operation that sent Helldivers up against waves of Illuminate Voteless, hostile forces spewing from voids opening across the galaxy. The M-103 was made available as a stratagem during that campaign, letting players take it into live combat and effectively field-test the vehicle across thousands of hours of community playtime.
The campaign was a success. In-game lore frames the outcome as enabling full-scale production of the vehicle, and Arrowhead leaned into that fiction in its Steam post confirming the October unlock:

Players who went through Census Thunder in June already have the Supply FRV sitting in their loadouts. For everyone else, October ends the wait.
Free via Requisition Slips — Not Super Credits
When the M-103 arrives in October, players will unlock it using Requisition Slips rather than Super Credits. That distinction carries real weight for the Helldivers 2 community. Super Credits are the game’s premium currency — available to purchase directly or to grind for slowly in the field. Requisition Slips, by contrast, are earned through standard mission completion. Putting the Supply FRV behind Requisition Slips means every gamer with access to Helldivers 2 gets the vehicle on an equal footing, regardless of what they’ve spent.
It also marks a milestone for Arrowhead’s new Galactic War Campaign system. The M-103 Supply FRV is the first stratagem reward to come out of this revamped framework, which replaced the game’s previous Major Orders mechanic in June. Where Major Orders offered temporary objectives, Galactic Campaigns are designed to give genuine narrative weight to the ongoing war — and deliver lasting rewards that players keep. The Supply FRV is the proof of concept.
What Else Is Coming to Helldivers 2
The Supply FRV news arrives in the middle of a particularly active period for Helldivers 2. Arrowhead is also set to reveal a Helldivers 2 x Warhammer 40,000 Legendary Warbond on 30 July. A gameplay teaser already shows a Helldiver armed with the iconic Bolt Pistol, and the Bolt Carbine, Chainsword, and Space Marine-themed armour sets are all expected to feature. Based on the pricing of previous crossover Warbonds — Halo: ODST and Killzone both cost 1,500 Super Credits — players can expect this one to carry a similar premium price tag.
Longer-term, Arrowhead has Planet Warfronts in development — a rogue-lite mode that guides squads through chained objectives across planetary locations, including territory defence and joining active frontlines. It’s a more structurally ambitious addition to the game’s action loop, and one that points to Arrowhead’s determination to keep the experience feeling alive well into 2027.
For a game that has weathered genuine turbulence since its record-breaking February 2024 launch, Helldivers 2 is building momentum again. The free Supply FRV is a practical reward for the community’s involvement in the Census Thunder campaign, but it’s also the clearest signal yet that Arrowhead’s new galactic campaign system is functioning exactly as intended — turning player participation into permanent progress for the whole player base.
