When does Miles Morales join the MCU? Tom Holland knows — and he’s not saying. That was the most revealing non-answer to come out of Brand New Day’s press tour, and with Spider-Man: Brand New Day having now opened to $927 million globally, the question of what comes next for Holland’s Peter Parker is suddenly very much on the table.

Asked directly about a fifth solo Spider-Man film during a recent interview, Holland was characteristically careful. “What is on the cards is a little unclear right now, but I’m sure that, whatever happens with Spider-Man, it’ll be very bright and lovely.” Zendaya added: “It’ll be great no matter what. We’ll be sure of it.”
That’s not a denial. Spider-Man 5 has not been announced by Marvel Studios or Sony — but after an opening weekend that trails only Avengers: Endgame in box office history, it would be extraordinary for the franchise to stop here. Holland turned 30 this year; he had previously said that if he were still Spider-Man at 30, something had gone wrong. He’s since revised that position considerably, telling interviewers during the press tour that he’ll play the character “for as long as they’ll have me.”
Brand New Day was directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and features Holland and Zendaya alongside Jacob Batalon, Mark Ruffalo, Jon Bernthal, Michael Mando, and Sadie Sink in an undisclosed role.
The Miles Morales Tease Holland Wouldn’t Expand On
Holland’s tease (1Live interview): “I guess it would be, ‘When will we get Miles Morales?’ — because I know the answer.” When pressed to share it: “I’m asking the questions. I’m not answering them.”
Miles Morales has never appeared in live-action in the MCU. The closest thing is Donald Glover’s Aaron Davis cameo in Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), where the character — known in the comics and games as the Prowler — referenced having a nephew. Fans have treated that line as a breadcrumb ever since.
Holland says he has been actively working to bring Miles into the MCU since at least June 2026. His words: “I have aspirations to bring Miles Morales into the universe, however that works out. We’ve got a lot of work to do to bring that to life.” Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has separately suggested that a live-action MCU Miles probably won’t arrive until after the animated Spider-Verse saga has run its course.
Holland’s confidence that he knows the timing — and his decision to tease that knowledge openly — suggests Marvel has at least a broad timeline in place internally. That’s meaningfully different from the complete uncertainty that usually surrounds major MCU casting decisions. Something is being planned.
Why This Matters for Gaming, Not Just Cinema
For gaming audiences, Miles Morales in the MCU is a different kind of news. Miles became a mainstream gaming protagonist with Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales in 2020 — a PS5 launch title that introduced millions of players to the character before many of them had seen Into the Spider-Verse. He’s been a playable character across multiple platforms since, and Insomniac’s version of Miles is arguably more recognisable to a gaming audience than any animated or comic-book counterpart.
A live-action MCU Miles would almost certainly accelerate the next wave of Spider-Man game content. Insomniac has not announced a Marvel’s Spider-Man 3, and there’s been no word on a second Miles Morales standalone. An MCU introduction of the character — and the marketing machine that comes with it — would be substantial pressure on the games pipeline to respond.
For now, Holland is keeping the answer to himself. But after a $927 million opening weekend, the question of when Miles arrives in the MCU has gone from “eventually” to “very probably soon.”
