AION 2 is a free-to-play MMORPG that launched globally on 5 October 2026. You create a Daeva of the Elyos or Asmodians, pick one of eight classes, and level to 45 through story and regional quests before moving on to group dungeons, raids, faction PvP and gear progression.
Here is a beginner’s guide to AION 2 — what it is, how to start, and what to focus on first.
AION 2 beginner basics
The essentials to know before you make your first Daeva.
| Basic | What to know |

| Cost | Free to play on PC via Steam and PURPLE |
| Factions | Choose the Elyos or the Asmodians |
| Character | You play a Daeva — a winged, immortal hero |
| Classes | Eight to pick from, shared by both factions |
| Levelling | Reach level 45 via story and regional quests |
| Endgame | Group dungeons, raids, faction PvP and gear |

How a new character works
When you start AION 2, you first choose a faction — the Elyos or the Asmodians — which decides your story, starting zones and PvP side. Then you pick one of the eight shared classes and create your Daeva. From there the early game is about levelling: you follow the main story and regional quests up to the level 45 cap, learning your class along the way. Once you hit the cap, the game opens up into its endgame — group dungeons, raids, large-scale faction PvP and the long grind of gear progression. Because it’s free to play, you can roll several characters to try different factions and classes at no cost.
