Sony has pulled back the curtain on October’s PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, and there’s plenty to sink your teeth into — from a gritty Sicilian mob prequel to a rare day-one looter shooter that lands on the service the moment it launches.
Seven games are joining the Extra tier this month, with two more arriving in the Premium Classics Catalogue. Most titles go live on 20 October, though one spooky arrival is available right now.
Mafia: The Old Country Heads to Sicily
The headline addition is Mafia: The Old Country, Hangar 13’s prequel that takes players to the brutal criminal underworld of early 20th-century Sicily. Set decades before the original trilogy, the game follows Enzo Favara’s rise through the ranks of organised crime in 1900s Palermo. It’s a third-person action adventure that trades the American cities of its predecessors for the sun-scorched streets of Mediterranean organised crime.
Arriving alongside it on 20 October is Horizon Forbidden West, Guerrilla’s sprawling post-apocalyptic open world. Aloy’s journey across a machine-infested frontier returns to the service as a PS Plus re-release — ideal for anyone who missed it or wants to revisit before the sequel arrives.
Mycopunk: A Day-One Arrival
Perhaps the most intriguing addition is Mycopunk, a mission-based co-op looter shooter that launches directly into the PS Plus Game Catalogue on its release day. Developed for up to four players, the game tasks you with cutting through hordes of fungal aliens using an arsenal of hand-crafted futuristic weaponry. Sony has been pushing day-one PS Plus additions more aggressively this year, and Mycopunk fits the mould perfectly.
Staggered rollout continues: Sony is still trialling its phased release schedule. The Midnight Walk is available today (14 October) in the US and UK, but the full lineup doesn’t land until 20 October worldwide.

Don’t forget to claim this month’s Essential games — F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896, and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 — before they leave on 2 November.
Between Mafia’s Sicilian ganglands, Aloy’s machine-stalked frontier, and a co-op shooter that arrives on day one, October’s PS Plus lineup has something for every kind of player. The real question is whether you’ll have time to play them all before November’s lineup drops.
