WoW Forever Skyborne Race Guide: Racials, Classes & How to Unlock (2026)

3 November 2026 · 6 min read · Gaming

Skyborne is WoW Forever’s new neutral race — you pick Alliance or Horde at character creation. It has four racials: the active glide Walk on Air, the passive Wind Blessed (+1% haste) and Elemental Insight (+5% damage vs elementals), plus a faction racial — Read Ley Line (Alliance/High Order, big health & mana regen) or Skysight (Horde/Windshaper, a run-speed boost). Skyborne can play Warrior, Hunter, Rogue and Druid on both sides, with Mage exclusive to Alliance and Shaman to Horde. It’s unlocked by the $29.99 Skyborne Heroic Pack.

Here is the full Skyborne guide: every racial and what it does, the class and faction options, how to unlock the race, and which class suits it best. Based on WoW Forever beta client data and race guides (Icy Veins, Mobalytics, RankedBoost), as of 3 November 2026. The game launches 4 November; some racial numbers still differ between sources and are flagged below.

Racial Type Effect Faction
Walk on Air Active Glide slowly downward for ~10 seconds Both
Wind Blessed Passive +1% haste Both
Elemental Insight Passive +5% damage against Elementals Both
Read Ley Line Active Greatly increased health & mana regen (~15s) Alliance (High Order)
Skysight Active +10–15% run speed (short duration) Horde (Windshaper)

Your faction choice quietly decides your best class
Skyborne is neutral, but the faction you pick isn’t cosmetic — it changes both your fourth racial and your class options. Alliance Skyborne (High Order) get Read Ley Line (a regen cooldown that suits casters and healers) and unlock Mage; Horde Skyborne (Windshaper) get Skysight (a mobility burst that suits melee and PvP) and unlock Shaman. So if you want a Skyborne Mage you must go Alliance, and a Skyborne Shaman means Horde — there’s no way to have both. Decide the class first, and the faction follows. Both sides share Warrior, Hunter, Rogue and Druid.

The racials explained

What each Skyborne racial actually does for you in play.

🦅
Walk on Air
Active glide
A short, slow downward glide for about 10 seconds — the race’s signature trick. It negates fall damage and opens shortcuts off cliffs and ledges, which matters in a no-flying game where vertical travel is otherwise slow and dangerous.

Active

⚡
Wind Blessed
+1% haste
A flat passive +1% haste. Small on paper, but haste is a universally useful stat — it speeds casts, attacks and resource generation for every spec — so it’s a “never wrong” racial that helps DPS, healers and tanks alike.

Passive

✚
Read Ley Line
Alliance · regen
The Alliance (High Order) racial: a cooldown that greatly boosts health and mana regeneration for a short window. Reported numbers differ (around 50% for ~15 seconds up to 100% regen), but either way it’s a sustain tool that suits casters and healers.

Alliance

💨
Skysight
Horde · speed
The Horde (Windshaper) racial: a short run-speed boost of roughly 10–15% (sources differ). It’s a mobility burst for chasing, escaping and rotating — genuinely useful in PvP and for melee classes closing gaps.

Skyborne classes & factions

Skyborne’s class list is deliberately narrower than the old races, and it splits by faction. On both sides you can roll Warrior, Hunter, Rogue and Druid. Alliance (High Order) adds Mage; Horde (Windshaper) adds Shaman. Notably, Skyborne cannot play Priest, Paladin or Warlock in the announced lineup. That shapes the best picks: with a universally useful +1% haste and a glide, Skyborne is a clean fit for Hunter (haste helps ranged attack speed and the glide helps kiting) and Rogue (haste and mobility suit melee). Alliance players chasing a Skyborne caster take Mage, pairing Read Ley Line’s mana regen with Frost’s efficiency; Horde players get the only Skyborne Shaman, with Skysight adding mobility to an Enhancement melee kit. Druid works on both sides as the flexible hybrid.

How to unlock Skyborne

Skyborne is not part of the base game — it’s a paid unlock. The only way to play it is the Skyborne Heroic Pack at $29.99, or any higher-tier edition that includes it. Buying the pack also granted early name reservation from 27 October through 3 November (today is the last day), letting you create and customise up to three characters before launch — though you can’t level them until the 4 November go-live. If you miss the reservation window you can still make a Skyborne at launch; you just won’t have pre-locked your names. This makes Skyborne the one race in WoW Forever behind a specific purchase rather than available to every subscriber, so factor the $29.99 into your decision if the race (rather than the cosmetics) is the draw.

💡
Quick verdict
Skyborne is WoW Forever’s neutral race with four racials: Walk on Air (glide), Wind Blessed (+1% haste), Elemental Insight (+5% vs elementals) and a faction racial — Read Ley Line (Alliance regen) or Skysight (Horde +10–15% run speed). It plays Warrior/Hunter/Rogue/Druid on both sides, Mage on Alliance and Shaman on Horde, but not Priest/Paladin/Warlock. Unlock it with the $29.99 Skyborne Heroic Pack; pack owners got name reservation through 3 November. Pick your class first — it decides your faction.

WoW Forever Skyborne FAQ

What classes can Skyborne play?
Warrior, Hunter, Rogue and Druid on both factions, plus Mage for Alliance (High Order) Skyborne and Shaman for Horde (Windshaper) Skyborne. They cannot play Priest, Paladin or Warlock.

Details reflect WoW Forever beta client data and race guides (Icy Veins, Mobalytics, RankedBoost), as of 3 November 2026. The game launches 4 November; some racial values (Read Ley Line and Skysight percentages/durations) differ between sources and are given as ranges — we refresh once the live racials are confirmed.
