All Mounts & Pets in Crimson Desert: Complete List and How to Get Each One

13 August 2026 · 12 min read · Gaming

Crimson Desert has 25 permanent mounts — eight horse breeds, eleven tameable beasts and six legendary or story unlocks — plus 20 pets you can register through the trust system, rising to 21 if you count the legendary Phoenix. Every one of them is listed below with its obtain method, location and, where the numbers exist, base stats.

This list is current as of August 2026 and Patch 1.06, the update that let players subdue bears, wolves and other wildlife and keep them as permanent special mounts. Pearl Abyss’s open world has shifted six million copies in 83 days since its 19 March 2026 launch, and completionists are now sweeping the map for every collectable — mounts and pets included.

All horses in Crimson Desert — every breed

There are five ordinary breeds and three legendary horses. Your first horse, the Herspia, is given to you during the main quest Unknown Space straight after the prologue. Everything else is tamed in the wild, bought from a stable or stolen from an NPC — yes, stealing works, but it raises your wanted level.

Breed Type How to get Lv5 HP Lv5 Stamina Lv5 ATK/DEF
Herspia Starter horse Main quest “Unknown Space” after the prologue; also tameable in the wild 470 255 21 / 47
Priden Standard breed Tame in the wild, buy from stables or steal 520 270 23 / 72
Brianto Damiane’s default Joins automatically with Damiane in Chapter 3; also found wild 420 225 21 / 42
Elantrima Standard breed Tame in the wild, buy from stables or steal 720 330 23 / 62
Numont Standard breed Tame in the wild, buy from stables or steal 520 225 26 / 57
Royler Legendary (white) Tame in the wild — Silverwolf Mountains, Pailune, near Snowgrass Hearth campsite 590 390 23 / 70
Rokade Legendary (black) Tame in the wild — Steel Mountains, Grace Estate, by the lake near Spire of Insight 840 315 26 / 85
Camora Legendary (red) Tame in the wild — Redtree Forest near the Red River, Tashkalp 690 315 33 / 120

Stat figures are level-5 baseline values recorded by community trackers and can drift slightly with patches. Horses also gain experience simply by being ridden, which raises their defence, speed and stamina over time.

How to tame and register a horse

Taming is a minigame, not an item check. The same routine works for every breed, including the legendaries:

  • Approach a wild horse from behind while it is unaware — sprinting straight at it from the front spooks it instantly.
  • Mount it to trigger the taming minigame.
  • Hold the left stick (or direction keys) opposite to the direction the horse is facing until the taming bar fills.
  • If you are thrown off, try again immediately — there is no cooldown.
  • Keep at least six points of stamina before attempting a legendary horse; they buck harder and drain the bar fast.
  • Ride the tamed horse to any stable and register it. An unregistered horse is temporary and disappears when you switch mounts or reload.
⚠️
Stolen horses count as crime
You can steal a horse from an NPC instead of taming one, but it flags you under the wanted system. If your horse is badly injured and cannot gallop, charge your Force Palm and use the healing prompt on its torso to restore it to full health.

Best horse in Crimson Desert: Royler vs Rokade vs Camora

Short answer: Royler is the best horse for exploration, and Rokade and Camora are the best for combat. The three legendaries split the stat table between them, and no ordinary breed beats all three at anything.

The three legendary horses in Crimson Desert — Royler, Rokade and Camora — standing in a misty valley
The legendary trio: Royler (white), Rokade (black) and Camora (red).
Horse Best role Standout stats (Lv5) Signature trait
1 Royler — exploration 390 stamina, Speed 5, Acceleration 5 Learns Consecutive Instant Acceleration: boost twice after drifting
2 Rokade — combat tank 840 HP (highest of any horse), 85 DEF Hardest mount to incapacitate in a fight
3 Camora — combat damage 33 ATK and 120 DEF — both the highest in the game Turns mounted charges into genuine damage

If you want a strong mount before the legendaries are reachable, the Elantrima is the best common breed: 720 HP and 330 stamina at level 5, available from stables or wild herds in the mid-game.

Best horse gear — all five tack slots

Every horse has five equipment slots, and each slot boosts a different stat. Gear is bought from Saddlery vendors (there are eight known saddleries across Pywel, always next to a stable), crafted at a blacksmith from blueprints, or exchanged for Contribution Points. There are 97 unique pieces of mount equipment in the game across six grades.

Five tack slots, five stat boosts: saddle, stirrups, horseshoes, champron and barding.
Slot Effect Best-in-slot Where to get it
Saddle Max HP (+25 to +400) Delesyian Saddle (+400 HP) Delesyia Saddlery
Stirrups Passive HP regen (+0.4 to +0.8/sec) Delesyian Stirrups (+0.8 HP/sec) Delesyia Saddlery — needs +100 vendor trust
Horseshoes Attack + stamina regen Four-Leaf Horseshoes (+8 ATK, +5 stamina/sec) Delesyia Saddlery
Champron Attack, head armour (+5 to +15) Delesyian Champron (+15 ATK) Delesyia Saddlery
Barding Defence, body armour (+5 to +80) Hagmund Barding (+80 DEF) Saddlery vendors, 8,500 Silver
💡
Top-tier stock is trust-gated
Some saddlery vendors only sell their best gear after you reach +100 trust with them — gift them ores to raise it. Sensible upgrade order: Saddle, then Stirrups, Horseshoes, Champron, Barding. Survivability first, damage second.

All special mounts — bears, wolves, camels and more

Since Patch 1.06, eleven wild animals can be registered as permanent special mounts. The routine is the same for all of them: subdue the animal with Force Palm, mount it, feed it raw food until trust reaches 100, then choose Take In. Registered special mounts are summoned from the Special Mount tab in your inventory and logged under Fleeting Companions in the Knowledge menu.

Special mounts in Crimson Desert — bear, giant iguana, camel and raptor at a desert camp
From bears to raptors: eleven beasts can now be permanently tamed.
Mount How to get Location
Clawed Bear (Black Bear) Steal from Black Bear soldiers, tame with raw meat Black Bear forts and camps, Pailune
Brown Bear Subdue in the wild, ride, feed raw meat Near Greenfield Highlands Abyss Nexus, Hernand
Giant Iguana Ride and feed raw vegetables (Green and Red variants) Crimson Desert region
Lion Steal from the circus or defeat in the wild; tame with raw meat The Laughing Marionette circus, Crimson Desert region
Sandwalk Camel Quest reward for the Outlaws of the Desert questline Redwind Merchant Guild, Crimson Desert region
Red-Feathered Raptor Steal from hostile riders, tame with raw meat Crimson Mountain Fortress area, south-east Tashkalp
Leaping Kuku Bird Take the Kuku Bird’s Egg and hatch it at a nest Bloodsteel Camp, Demeniss
Large Wolf Defeat in the wild, ride, feed raw meat Pailune
Boar Steal a Rock Tusk Warthog from Savage Fangs riders, tame with raw meat Tashkalp and Crimson Desert region
Ibex Ride and feed raw vegetables Mountainous areas of Pailune
Rosehorn Deer Steal from Mistwood Hunters, ride, feed raw vegetables Pailune

The raptor and the camel are the two most-requested entries in the game’s most-played Steam title forums — the camel because it is a guaranteed quest reward rather than a random spawn.

Legendary and story mounts — Blackstar Dragon and the sigil path

Six mounts sit above the rest: one story reward and five legendary hunts. Five of them follow the same loop — hunt the animal, skin it for a trophy item, take that item to a Witch NPC, craft the Sigil of Solidarity under Craft Abyss Gear > Special Items, then use the sigil from your inventory to register the mount permanently.

Temporary mounts and vehicles

All pets in Crimson Desert — the full list

Pets are registered through trust, not taming minigames: feed and pet an animal until trust reaches 100, then hold the selection button and choose Take In. You can register up to 30 pets, but only one can be active at a time. Every pet auto-loots nearby items and enemy drops after fights; differences between breeds are purely cosmetic.

Pet taming: trust, daily caps and the 30-pet limit

The trust maths is worth knowing if you are chasing the Natural Collector trophy for registering 30 distinct pets:

  • Petting gives +5 trust, up to five times a day — a maximum of +25 per animal per day.
  • Feeding gives +10 trust with ordinary food and +35 with the animal’s favourite food. Drop the food on the ground near it.
  • Daily petting and feeding limits reset at midnight in-game time.
  • Fastest possible pet: the white dog by the bulletin board in central Hernand. Three pieces of Fine Meat from the grocer plus five pets registers it in a single in-game day.
  • Shortcuts: Bones instantly tame dogs; the Golden Carp — found in the lake below the “P” of Pailune on the map — instantly tames cats.
  • Up to 30 pets can be registered; only one follows you at a time, and it auto-loots after every fight.
  • Pet Armour is sold at Tailor Shops but is cosmetic only — no stat benefit.
🏆
The collection target
25 permanent mounts plus 30 registered pets is the full stable. With four legendary pets requiring quest chains and the sigil-crafted mounts gated behind boss hunts, most completionists finish the compendium 60–80 hours into a first playthrough. The game is out on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC — and with console installs growing through 2026, patch additions are likely.

FAQ

How many mounts are there in Crimson Desert?
25 permanent mounts as of August 2026: eight horse breeds, eleven tameable special beasts and six legendary or story mounts, including the flying Blackstar Dragon. A further nine temporary mounts and vehicles exist but cannot all be registered.

What is the best horse in Crimson Desert?
Royler for exploration — the highest stamina (390 at level 5) plus a double-boost drifting skill. Rokade for tanking hits with 840 HP, and Camora for mounted combat with 33 attack and 120 defence.

Can you tame bears in Crimson Desert?
Yes, since Patch 1.06. Subdue a bear with Force Palm, mount it, feed it raw meat until trust reaches 100, then choose Take In. Both the Clawed Bear and the Brown Bear work this way.

How many pets can you have in Crimson Desert?
You can register up to 30 pets, but only one can be active at a time. There are 21 obtainable species, including the legendary Phoenix and the Abyss Heuklang cat.

What is the rarest pet in Crimson Desert?
The Phoenix — it must be shot out of the sky south of Trader’s Expanse with an Explosive Arrow, skinned for its feather, and registered via a Sigil of Solidarity crafted at a Witch. The Abyss Heuklang is rarer by location but takes zero effort once you reach the Axiom Archive.
