San Diego Comic-Con does something strange to the collectibles market. Within hours of a major Marvel panel wrapping up, the toy companies spring to life — and this year’s Avengers: Doomsday Hall H presentation was no exception. Hot Toys has now revealed its first wave of 1:6 scale figures tied to the December film, and for anyone with a passing interest in the X-Men’s return to the big screen, the results are genuinely impressive.
The initial Hot Toys lineup covers four characters: James Marsden’s Cyclops, Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, Channing Tatum’s Gambit, and Ian McKellen’s Magneto. Each figure is presented in extraordinary detail — approximately 31 centimetres tall, with around 30 points of articulation — and all four are now available for preorder through Sideshow Collectibles.
Magneto’s Most Comic-Faithful Look Yet
Of all the figures revealed at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, the Magneto is drawing the strongest reaction. Ian McKellen’s take on the Master of Magnetism receives a brand-new costume for Avengers: Doomsday, and it is arguably the closest to his comic-book origins that McKellen has worn since he first put on the helmet back in 2000. The figure shows off a bold red and purple colour scheme, complete with the domed helmet and sweeping red suit that longtime fans will immediately recognise from the panels.
The costume carries extra weight given the circumstances. McKellen, who turned 87 this year, is widely expected to be making his final appearance as Magneto in Doomsday. That lends the film — and this figure — a farewell quality for fans who have followed him in the role across six movies and more than two decades. Sideshow offers the Magneto in a Collector version at $285 and a Deluxe version at $390, the latter including additional accessories and a more elaborate display base.
Gambit, Cyclops, and a Very ’90s Jacket
Channing Tatum’s Gambit made his long-awaited big-screen debut in last year’s Deadpool & Wolverine, and his Doomsday look is a subtle but distinct evolution. The Hot Toys figure shows a costume that is noticeably darker and more muted compared to the version audiences saw in that film — appropriate for what sounds like a considerably grittier tone. The Standard Gambit figure is priced at $285, with a Deluxe version at $375.
The Cyclops, meanwhile, gets a clever nod to X-Men nostalgia. The Deluxe Edition of the Marsden figure includes a removable leather jacket — a direct callback to the aesthetic of the beloved 1990s animated series. It is a small detail, but one that suggests the Avengers: Doomsday costume team has been paying close attention to the franchise’s history. Standard Cyclops runs $285; the Deluxe edition is $390.
Doctor Doom — With a Throne to Match
The Doctor Doom figure is the centrepiece of the Hot Toys Avengers: Doomsday lineup, and its specification list is genuinely impressive. The Collector Edition comes dressed in a dark green hooded cloak with magnetically detachable clasps and a metal chain, silver pauldrons, chainmail sleeves, silver gauntlets, and a pair of translucent green flame effect pieces. Eight interchangeable hand pieces round out the accessories.
The Collector Version costs $285. The Ultimate Edition — which includes an LED-lit Sentinel’s hand diorama base and a mystery accessory — is $390. Doom’s throne is available as a separate display piece for an additional $210, and it is exactly as imposing as you would expect from a man who rules Latveria.
Doctor Doom has also been designated an Early Access release in its non-deluxe form, which means Sideshow is guaranteeing delivery before the film opens on 18 December 2026. That makes it one of the few figures in the wave confirmed to be in collectors’ hands before the story actually plays out on screen.

Professor X, Beast and the Figures Still to Come
Hot Toys is not the only company with Avengers: Doomsday collectibles on the San Diego Comic-Con floor this week. Sideshow Collectibles is also displaying figures of Patrick Stewart’s Professor Xavier, Kelsey Grammer’s Beast, and an imposing Sentinel — though none of these have opened for preorder yet.
The Sentinel in particular looks to be a substantial piece based on convention footage circulating online. It connects directly to the life-sized Sentinel head Marvel brought to its physical SDCC booth, which became one of the convention’s most-photographed installations this year. Alongside the Hot Toys display, the Marvel booth also featured screen-used Doomsday costumes — Gambit, Cyclops, Sam Wilson’s Captain America, Thor, and others — giving attendees a close-up look at the film’s aesthetic before December arrives.
The broader Hot Toys Avengers: Doomsday figure wave is scheduled to ship between October 2026 and December 2027. With Doom earmarked for early delivery ahead of the film, the timeline suggests Marvel and its retail partners are being deliberate about building collector momentum in the run-up to the cinema release.

If the figures are anything to go by — and particularly that comic-faithful Magneto — the X-Men’s role in the story looks to be substantial.
