133 is a lot of trading posts to add in a single patch. Pearl Abyss’s open-world action RPG Crimson Desert just received its biggest economy overhaul since launch, and if you have been waiting for the trading system to feel worth engaging with, this week’s Patch 1.16 is likely what you have been waiting for.
The update doesn’t just expand the map with new vendor locations — it introduces genuine supply and demand mechanics, higher profit tiers for difficult routes, a reworked wagon infrastructure, and a new banking system complete with a Bond Shop. For an action RPG that has been iterating at a weekly clip since Pearl Abyss launched it, this is a meaningful shift in economic depth.
How the New Supply and Demand System Works
The headline mechanic is simple but satisfying: trade good prices now change when too many items are sold at a single location. Flood a market with the same goods and you will see prices drop. Move goods to underserved areas — particularly trading posts described in the patch notes as “hard to reach by wagon” — and you earn a significantly higher return.
That friction is what distinguishes a trading simulation from a simple gold-farming loop. Rather than finding the highest-profit route and repeating it until the number goes up, players now have to think about saturation. Remote locations reward the effort of reaching them; easy routes become less profitable over time.
Alongside the 133 new trading posts (which unlock progressively through quest progression), Pearl Abyss has added 24 new types of high-value trade goods and 4 new types of regular trade goods. Packaged trade goods can now be stacked up to 10 or 100 units depending on price tier, reducing some of the inventory friction that came with moving large quantities.

Wagon Workshops, Royal Posts, and the Trade Map
Seven new Wagon Workshops have been added across Crimson Desert’s regions — Hernand, Demeniss, Delesyia, and Varnia among them. These act as intermediate trading posts where players can package and load goods before transporting them. A practical change: wagons no longer disappear after delivering to royal trading posts, which previously created frustrating dead-ends for trade run planning.
Royal post prices: Royal trading posts now offer four times the price they offered before the patch — a significant income multiplier for players who have unlocked the routes that reach them.
The game’s map has received a dedicated Trade tab, allowing players to filter by trading posts, wagon workshops, wagon routes, and items for sale at specific locations. While riding in a wagon, routes now appear on the minimap too. Given that Patch 1.16 effectively quadruples the trading network, the map upgrade is less of a convenience feature and more of a necessity.
Bank Changes and the Bond Shop
The banking system has also been reworked. A new “Claim Bank Strongbox” feature rewards players who deposit ten or more bonds, allowing them to begin investing. Bonds themselves can be exchanged for 10 Gold Bars each. The new Bond Shop offers rare items in exchange for accumulated bonds — giving players an alternative currency path beyond pure gold accumulation.
Pearl Abyss has also adjusted the number of gold bars gained or lost through bank interest, capping the gold bar interest limit to reduce extreme compounding that some players had been exploiting. Combined with the supply and demand changes, the overall economic picture in Crimson Desert is now considerably more complex — and more rewarding for players willing to engage with it seriously.
Patch 1.16 follows Pearl Abyss’s pattern of near-weekly updates since Crimson Desert launched. For players who dropped off earlier in the year, the trading system alone is now substantial enough to justify returning — and for those already in the game, this update fundamentally changes how profitable a dedicated trade run can be.
