Best Deadlock Items & Builds: Weapon, Vitality & Spirit Explained

8 October 2026 · 4 min read · Gaming

In Deadlock, items come in three colours — Weapon (yellow), Vitality (green) and Spirit (purple) — and the best build mixes all three while leaning into your hero’s main category. Early on, cheap 500-soul items like Basic Magazine, Extra Health and Extra Spirit give the most value for money, because each one also raises your bonus in that colour.

Here are the best Deadlock items to buy, how the three-colour shop works, and what to pick up first on almost any hero.

Extra Regen Vitality (T1) Sustains you in lane without backing off
Fortitude Vitality (T3) Big health plus regen when you avoid damage
Extra Spirit Spirit (T1) Cheap ability power for every spell on your kit
Improved Cooldown Spirit (T2) Lower cooldowns so you cast your abilities more often

How the shop works

Every item in Deadlock sits in one of three colours. Weapon (yellow) boosts gun damage, fire rate and magazine size. Vitality (green) gives health, regen, resistances, shields and mobility. Spirit (purple) raises ability power and lowers cooldowns and charges. Items come in four price tiers — roughly 500, 1,250, 3,000 and 6,300 souls — and the higher tiers only unlock as your team earns souls over the match. Crucially, buying items of one colour raises your investment bonus in that colour, so stacking green items makes all your Vitality items stronger. That is why specialising pays off, even while you keep a few of each.

Deadlock items FAQ

What are the three item types in Deadlock?
Weapon (yellow) for gun damage, Vitality (green) for survivability, and Spirit (purple) for ability power and cooldowns. Most builds mix all three but lean into one.

What should I buy first in Deadlock?
Cheap T1 items give the best value early: Basic Magazine for gun heroes, Extra Spirit for ability heroes, and Extra Health or Extra Regen if you’re struggling to stay in lane.

Should I buy items of just one colour?
No — mix all three, but specialise. Buying more of one colour raises your investment bonus in it, so your main category gets stronger while a few off-colour items round out your hero.

How do higher-tier items unlock?
Item tiers unlock as your team accumulates souls over the match. You can’t rush a 6,300-soul T4 item early; the shop gates them behind your overall soul total.

Can I sell or change items later?
Yes — you can buy back and reconfigure items during a match, so you can adapt your build to the enemy team, for example adding resistances against a heavy-damage lineup.

Deadlock is in active development, so item names, tiers and prices change between patches. We refresh this guide as the shop is updated.
