The best rookies in Madden NFL 27 are safety Caleb Downs and running back Jeremiyah Love, tied at the top with an 82 overall. Behind them comes a loaded edge-rushing class led by Jets EDGE David Bailey (81) and Buccaneers EDGE Rueben Bain Jr. (80) — and, unusually, not a single quarterback in the top 10.
Here are the highest-rated rookies in Madden NFL 27, how their launch ratings are set, and the best first-year player at each role.

How rookie ratings work
Rookies enter Madden without any NFL tape, so EA’s ratings team sets their launch overalls from draft position, college production and the scouting consensus. That makes the first-year numbers more conservative than veterans’ — an 82 overall is an exceptional rookie rating. In Madden 27 the class is unusual in two ways: the top two are a safety and a running back rather than the usual quarterback, and the top 10 is stacked with edge rushers. The highest-rated rookie quarterback, Fernando Mendoza, sits well down the board at 74.
