Grand Theft Auto fans could soon be raising a glass of Pißwasser in real life. Three beer labels connected to Grand Theft Auto 6 have been approved by the US Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), suggesting that Rockstar Games is preparing to sell fictional beverages from the game in actual bars and stores.
The discovery was first made by community tracker iGrandTheftAuto, who spotted the labels in the federal government’s public database. The filings were submitted by Tripping Animals Brewing, a craft brewery based in Doral, Florida, just outside Miami. All three labels carry official GTA VI branding, indicating an authorised collaboration rather than an unlicensed novelty product.
Three Fictional Brands, One Real Brewery
The approved labels include two brands that longtime Grand Theft Auto players will immediately recognise. Pißwasser, the series’ most iconic fictional beer, received label approval on 29 September. Patriot Beer, another recurring brand from previous GTA titles, was approved on 15 October with the slogan “Never refuse a Patriot” and a 4.2% alcohol by volume (ABV) content, identical to Bud Light.
The third label is entirely new. No Mames Vice City, a 6% ABV lager, features a Chihuahua wearing pink sunglasses and a gold Vice City chain against a purple-and-pink sunset. The label was approved on 9 October and represents a fresh addition to the franchise’s fictional beverage lineup.
Key detail: Pißwasser and Patriot both carry 4.2% ABV, matching Bud Light. No Mames Vice City is stronger at 6% ABV.
While the TTB approvals confirm that the labels meet federal requirements for sale in the United States, neither Rockstar Games nor Tripping Animals Brewing has officially announced the collaboration. The approvals suggest commercial intent, but the exact nature of the partnership remains unclear.
Miami’s Vice City Transformation
The beer labels arrive as part of a broader marketing push that has seen Rockstar transform parts of Miami into a real-life version of Vice City ahead of Grand Theft Auto 6’s 19 November launch. The developer has invested an estimated $4 million in outdoor advertising, billboards, and branded installations throughout the city.
Citizens in Miami have spotted in-universe advertisements for various GTA brands appearing in bars and restaurants. A-frame signs at establishments like Monty’s read “You’re in… Pißwasser Country!” and promote Patriot Beer alongside real beverage brands. A giant Vice City blimp has been spotted flying over Florida, and the Miami Heat’s arena has been converted for a Vice City-themed NBA game scheduled for November.
The beer collaboration fits into a pattern of experiential marketing that Rockstar has been deploying for the game’s launch. In September, the company unveiled a $400 Collector’s Edition featuring Oakley sunglasses, a Macca the Gator statue, and other Vice City-themed collectibles. A partnership with the Miami Heat produced an exclusive clothing collection including a real-life version of Vice City’s iconic 100% completion T-shirt.
What Remains Unknown
Despite the federal approvals, significant questions remain about when and where these beers will actually be available for purchase. The TTB database confirms that the labels meet regulatory requirements, but it does not specify retail distribution plans, pricing, or whether the beers will be sold nationwide or remain exclusive to Florida.
Given the Miami-focused marketing campaign, it seems likely that the beers will initially appear in bars and venues around the city rather than in widespread retail distribution. Promotional activations at select locations would align with Rockstar’s strategy of creating Vice City-themed experiences in the real world.
The approvals also raise questions about whether this is a limited-time promotional tie-in or a permanent addition to the beverage market. Rockstar has not commented on the discovery, and Tripping Animals Brewing has not issued a press release confirming the collaboration.
For now, the labels represent another example of how Rockstar is blurring the line between Grand Theft Auto’s fictional world and reality. Whether fans will actually be able to purchase a cold Pißwasser at their local bar remains to be seen, but the federal paperwork suggests that the possibility is very real.
