GTA 6 Map — Leonida & Vice City Explained

16 September 2026 · 3 min read · Gaming

The GTA 6 map is the fictional state of Leonida, Rockstar’s take on Florida, built around a modern reimagining of Vice City. Two trailers have confirmed six distinct regions, from the neon of Vice City to the swamps of Grassrivers and the mountains of Mount Kalaga. Everything here comes from Rockstar’s official trailers and site — community map estimates are flagged as estimates.

Leonida is a whole state, not just a city, and Trailer 2 revealed how much sits outside Vice City itself: highways, countryside, rivers, factories and wildlife all form part of a single seamless world with no loading screens. Here is what is confirmed.

The state of Leonida

Leonida is Rockstar’s fictional version of Florida, and Vice City — its Miami — is the beating heart of the map. Where GTA 5’s Los Santos was a single city with countryside around it, Leonida spans an entire state: coastal keys, wetlands, farmland, small towns and a national park all connect into one open world.

The six confirmed regions

Rockstar has officially named six regions. Vice City is the urban core; the other five spread across the state.

Region What it is Inspiration
Vice City The main city — beaches, nightlife, downtown Miami
Leonida Keys Coastal island chain; Jason & Lucia’s starting home Florida Keys
Grassrivers Vast swamps, mangroves and hidden waterways The Everglades
Mount Kalaga National park — forests, mountains, hiking trails North Florida uplands
Port Gellhorn Industrial port town Florida Panhandle
Ambrosia Confirmed region, details still light Rural Florida

How big is the GTA 6 map?

Rockstar has not released an official map-size figure, so treat every number as an estimate. Based on trailer analysis, the community puts Leonida at roughly 125 km² of land — around twice the size of GTA 5 — with the wider world, including water, larger still. What Rockstar has shown is a denser, more detailed world with over 700 enterable interiors and no loading screens across the whole state.

📏
A note on map size
Any “X times bigger than GTA 5” figure is a fan estimate from the trailers, not an official number. Rockstar has confirmed the setting and the six regions, but not the square kilometres. We’ll update this guide with the official size if Rockstar shares one.
