When Batman: Caped Crusader’s second season lands on Prime Video on 31 July, fans won’t just be watching — they can play alongside it. Amazon Game Studios and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment used their San Diego Comic-Con 2026 panel to announce Batman: Caped Crusader – Chronicles, a co-operative detective adventure exclusive to Amazon Luna, timed to launch the very same day Season 2 premieres.
The reveal arrived during the Season 2 SDCC panel, accompanied by a trailer carrying the tagline “Crack the cases. Save the city.” Unlike many game tie-ins that drift far from their source material, Chronicles leans into the 1940s noir aesthetic of the animated series and into the investigative logic that has made the show distinctive. This one is clearly built for fans who want to live inside Gotham, not just observe it.
Eleven Episodes, Four Detectives, One Very Busy Gotham
Chronicles places players inside a Special GCPD Task Force operating alongside Batman and Detective Renee Montoya. Across 11 episodic missions — one more than Season 2’s ten television episodes — teams of one to four work through a case structure built around real detective activity: gathering evidence, interrogating suspects, scanning fingerprints, piecing together torn documents, decrypting codes, and defusing bombs before Gotham’s rogues can finish what they started.
The villain roster is substantial. Confirmed appearances include Scarecrow, The Joker, Babyface, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, Dollmaker, Lynx, and Music Meister. Players won’t simply encounter these characters — they’ll build cases against them, making the detective framework central to the gameplay loop rather than a cosmetic framing device. The game draws from material across both seasons, so veteran viewers will recognise callbacks beyond the new run alone.

Returning Voices — and One Casting Bombshell
Hamish Linklater reprises Batman and Bruce Wayne; Michelle C. Bonilla returns as Detective Renee Montoya. Both carry their performances directly from the animated series into the game, reinforcing that Chronicles carries the show’s full creative backing rather than a stripped-down licensed product.
The more surprising casting detail emerged from the SDCC panel: Matthew Needham, the new voice of the Joker in Season 2, also portrays the character in Chronicles. Needham’s Joker is among the most anticipated aspects of the new season, and his presence in the game gives Chronicles a direct link to the storyline most fans are watching for. It’s a pointed creative choice — the co-op detective game and the TV season share not just the same launch date but some of the same dramatic tension.

No Downloads, No Hardware — Your Phone Is the Controller
Chronicles joins Amazon Luna’s GameNight library, available at no extra cost to Prime members. There are no downloads, no additional gaming hardware, and no separate purchase required. Connectivity goes through the Amazon Luna app, with your smartphone serving as the controller — meaning a household session on the living room TV requires nothing more than phones everyone already owns.
Supported devices cover most of what people already have: Fire TV devices, Fire tablets, Samsung and LG smart TVs, web browsers on PC, Mac, and Chromebook, plus Android and iOS. The cloud gaming service handles the processing remotely, so even a modest device can run the full experience without performance compromise. Prime Video Gains a Games Tab on Fire TV
The Chronicles launch arrives alongside a structural change to how Amazon surfaces gaming. Prime Video on Fire TV in the US and UK is gaining a dedicated Games tab, allowing subscribers to browse and launch Amazon Luna titles directly within the Prime Video interface — no separate app required. Chronicles is set to be one of the first titles discoverable through that tab from 31 July.
That integration matters beyond this one game. Cloud gaming has generally required users to actively seek it out; placing a Games tab inside Prime Video on Fire TV removes that barrier for the tens of millions of subscribers who already have the app open for Batman. If Chronicles becomes someone’s first cloud gaming experience, Amazon has designed the path in for them.
