The Deep North is Valheim’s final biome, added with the 1.0 release on 9 September 2026. It’s a frozen land of deep snow, a frozen sea and Jotun frost giants, with two new dungeons, fresh enemies and gear, and at its end the final boss Kall Fimbulbringer. Come prepared for cold, raids and a tough three-phase fight.
Here is a guide to the Deep North — how to survive it, what’s new, and how to beat the final boss.
Valheim Deep North guide
The essentials of Valheim’s final biome.
| Feature | What to know |
|---|---|
| Biome | Deep snow and a frozen sea — frost resistance is vital |
| New enemies | Jotun giants, Gammeltroll, Krigen, Hexen and more |
| Jotun Invasion | A raid-style event you trigger on the road to the boss |
| Resources | Petrified Tissue, Lingonberries and Caller mold sets |
| Dungeons | Two new dungeons, including Morkhalla |
| Final boss | Kall Fimbulbringer, in The Prison beyond the Aesir Passage |

How to survive the Deep North
The Deep North is a frozen endgame zone, so frost resistance is essential — bring frost-resist mead and the warmest gear you can craft before you arrive. The land is patrolled by Jotun frost giants, who also drive the Jotun Invasion, a raid-style event you’ll trigger repeatedly as you push toward the boss. Along the way you’ll gather new resources like Petrified Tissue and the Caller armour molds, and clear two new dungeons. Because this is Valheim’s final content, enemies hit hard and come in groups, so strong crowd-control weapons like the Thunderblood Sledge and Frostner earn their place here.
