Forza Horizon 6’s Autumn season is well underway, and Playground Games has rolled out the Horizon Mascot Party festival playlist — a Japan-themed event that sends players across the open world in search of food-shaped collectibles, photo opportunities, and a new set of seasonal rewards. This week’s photo challenge, #DeliciousDango, is where a lot of players are hitting a wall, because the location name is actively misleading. Here’s exactly what you need to know.
What Is the Horizon Mascot Party?
The Horizon Mascot Party is the latest Festival Playlist event in Forza Horizon 6, replacing the previous seasonal rotation. Playground Games has set up a giant circular stadium — called Horizon Stadium — on the west side of the map in the Shimanoyama region, near the water. Inside, the stadium is divided into themed areas, one for each of the nine regions in FH6’s Japan map.
Each area carries its representative regional mascot: a larger-than-life food character themed after a local Japanese dish. Tokyo City’s representative is Dango — a sweet rice dumpling — displayed with a distinctive pink sign. Sotoyama has Omurice, Hokubu has Kakigori shaved ice, and so on across the nine zones. The stadium sits alongside a broader mascot-hunting system spread across the open world, where 200 smashable food mascots are hidden across the nine regions for players to find.
Where to Find the Tokyo City Dango Area
The confusion around this week’s photo challenge comes from the name: “Tokyo City Dango area” sounds like it’s somewhere in the Tokyo City region of the map. It is not. The location is inside Horizon Stadium in Shimanoyama, accessible from the south of the region. Look for a purple globe icon marked “Horizon Mascot Party” on your minimap.
Once inside, the Tokyo City section sits at the centre of the stadium and is marked by a large pink sign. Drive into the open parking lot section in that area — not just the entrance — and set up your photo. To get your driver outside the car, follow these steps:
Photo challenge steps: Press D-pad up to enter photo mode when stationary → press Y for Effects → scroll down to Character → cycle through until your avatar appears outside the car → press Y to exit Effects → take the photo.
Completing the challenge earns the Dango Outfit cosmetic and two Season Points, moving you closer to the Summer Season’s top rewards: the Exomotive Exocet Sport and the Datsun 2000 Roadster.
The Mascot Hunt: 200 Collectibles Across Nine Regions
Beyond the festival stadium, Forza Horizon 6’s mascot system extends across the entire Japan open world. There are 200 regional mascots scattered across the map, each sitting roadside in one of the nine regions. Every mascot you drive through earns 5,000 Credits and 25 Discover Japan Points. Collecting all 200 nets one million Credits and unlocks every reward in the Discover Japan progression track.
Each region sticks to a single mascot type: Tokyo City has 25 Dango, Shimanoyama has 20 Curry Rice, Takashiro has 25 Matcha, and so on. Mascots only appear on your minimap as purple face icons once you are close enough to trigger them, so working through regions methodically is quicker than driving blind. Tokyo City’s Dango mascots are reportedly among the trickier to find — several tuck into alleyways and under elevated road sections, and the urban grid rewards a compact, nimble car over anything wide or low.
Completing the Weekly Alongside the Mascot Hunt
The current Festival Playlist also includes a weekly challenge and new collectibles alongside the photo challenge, so players looking to maximise their Season Points should tackle all three before the week resets. The Dango photo challenge is the quickest of the three — once you know where the stadium is, it takes under two minutes to complete.
