Another blink and you’ll miss the opening is the path to Rha Waterfalls.
The double waterfalls are less than a 10-minute walk from the Old Police House car park, following the Uig Woodland path; the woods are glorious, like something out of a fairytale.
Some brave visitors, like me, swim in the pool at the lower falls—it is refreshing, ha!
Only some first-time visitors will take this short walk to the waterfall.
Getting There & Parking
The Rha Falls hide in woodland just above Uig, the ferry village on Skye’s north-west coast. The path starts near the edge of the village; parking is limited, so be considerate of residents when you leave the car.
It is an easy add-on if you are catching or dropping off the Outer Hebrides ferry from Uig, or looping through the north of the island.
What to See
A short walk up through the trees brings you to a twin waterfall where the Rha River drops in two side-by-side cascades into a pool. It is far less visited than the big Trotternish sights, so it often feels like a private find.
The woodland setting is a change from Skye’s usually bare, windswept scenery, and the falls run especially well after rain – which, this being Skye, is frequently.
