Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 — the free Edgerunners 2 Update — launched on 22 October 2026 and its headline feature is dual-wielding: the new Double Trouble perk lets V hold two Power Pistols or Revolvers at once. It also adds a new Edgerunners 2 side quest (Clampdown) with a five-piece gear set, console mod support via mod.io, a new radio station, and DLSS 4.5 with up to 6X Multi Frame Generation.
Here is everything in the Cyberpunk 2077 2.5 patch notes, what each addition does, and where it is available. The update drove the game to a Steam daily peak of 187,215 players on 25 October — its highest in about three years — and its recent Steam review rating sits at 94% positive. Details are from CD PROJEKT RED’s official patch notes and launch coverage (Kotaku, The Verge, Nintendo Life), as of October 2026.

What the update is
Update 2.5 is a free content patch tied to the Netflix anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, which premiered on 20 October 2026. Rather than a story expansion on the scale of Phantom Liberty, it bundles a new side quest, anime-themed gear and music, a major new combat option in dual-wielding, and a set of technical upgrades. It is the game’s most significant free update since the 2.1 and 2.2 patches, and it arrives alongside a 70% store sale that has pushed both the base game and Phantom Liberty back up the Steam top-seller charts (#3 and #9 respectively). Crucially, everything here is free to all owners — the only paid tie-in remains the Phantom Liberty expansion.

The Double Trouble perk is the star: sitting in the Cool tree and requiring 9 Cool, it finally lets V dual-wield, though only with Power Pistols and Revolvers — Smart and Tech variants don’t qualify. Its Rank 2 unlocks the Heywood Hurricane, which fires both guns automatically for one second. The Clampdown side quest is the Edgerunners 2 tie-in: set before the anime’s events and unlocked after finishing The Heist plus two gigs for Wakako, it rewards a five-piece gear set based on the new character King. On consoles, the headline is mod support — PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series players can now browse and install mods in-game through mod.io. And for PC, DLSS 4.5 brings up to 6X Multi Frame Generation, a major boost for high-refresh displays. A new station, HKGN 102.0 FM, plays music from the Edgerunners series to round out the theme.
