How to Play FM27 Free (Launch Preview Until Nov 3) & Do Saves Carry Over?

30 October 2026 · 5 min read · Gaming

Football Manager 27 is free to play on PC and Mac during its Launch Preview, which runs from 6pm GMT on 29 October until 6pm GMT on 3 November 2026. Every game mode is open, there’s no pre-order and no sign-up, and — crucially — any save you start now carries over to the paid Launch Preview and the full game. You can also import your FM24 and FM26 saves from the start screen. The full game launches on 10 November 2026.

Here is how to play FM27 free before the window closes, whether your progress carries over, how to bring old saves across, and what changes after 3 November. All details are as of 30 October 2026.

Start your real save now, not later
The single most valuable thing about this window is that it isn’t a throwaway demo: a career you start during the free Launch Preview continues straight into the full game. So this isn’t just a chance to try FM27 — it’s a head start. If you already know you’ll buy it, begin the save you actually want to play now, get your squad and tactics bedded in, and you’ll be days ahead when the full release lands on 10 November. The free period replaces the old Beta / Advanced Access, so this is the pre-launch build everyone gets to keep.

Do saves carry over?

Yes. Sports Interactive has confirmed that all saves started during the free play period can be continued through to both the paid Launch Preview and the full launch — you do not have to start again. That makes the free window genuinely worth using even if you’re certain you’ll buy the game: whatever progress you make now is permanent. The only thing that changes at the end of the free period is access, not your save data. Anyone who pre-orders keeps playing the Launch Preview without a break; anyone who doesn’t simply pauses until they buy, then picks the same career back up.

Importing FM24 / FM26 saves

If you’ve got an in-progress dynasty you don’t want to abandon, FM27 lets you bring it forward. There’s a start-screen option to import saves from FM24 and FM26, so a long-running career doesn’t have to end just because a new edition arrived. It’s the same principle as the carry-over inside FM27 itself: Sports Interactive is leaning into continuity this year, letting you preserve both new Launch Preview saves and older ones. If you’re migrating a prized FM26 save, do it early in the free window so you have time to check everything transferred cleanly before the full launch.

What happens after 3 November

When the free window closes at 6pm GMT on 3 November, free access ends — but your saves don’t vanish. From that point the two paths are simple. Pre-order (there’s a 10% discount) and you keep playing the Launch Preview with no interruption right up to the 10 November full launch, carrying your save the whole way. Don’t pre-order and your free access pauses; your career is still there waiting, and you can resume it the moment you buy the game. Either way, the work you put in during the free days is banked. FM27 is also coming to FM27 Console (Xbox and PS5) and FM27 Mobile via Netflix, though the free PC/Mac Launch Preview is the offer running right now.

💡
Quick verdict
FM27 is free on PC and Mac until 6pm GMT on 3 November 2026 — every mode, no pre-order, no sign-up. Saves carry over to the paid Launch Preview and the full 10 November launch, and you can import FM24/FM26 saves from the start screen. Treat it as a head start, not a demo: start the career you actually want now. After 3 November, pre-order to keep playing uninterrupted, or pause and resume when you buy.
